The Hype Man
Wouldn't it be nice to have an introduction like this every time you met someone new? Maybe it's a girl who caught your eye, or you're meeting her parents for the first time, maybe it's an important interview, maybe it's a lead you haven't turned into a client yet.
I actually think this kind of introduction could be catastrophic. Sure Paul Bettany's character has passion and charisma, but he goes beyond stretching the truth to spouting flat out lies about his "liege." This kind of tactic could lead to damaging relationships in both the personal and professional world.
It's important to remember to be honest about the things that make a person or company desirable, otherwise you're doomed from the start. If you're going to be a good wing man, hype man, or consultant get to know your source before you throw the pitch. Is he generous and kind? Is she a professional dynamo with endless potential? Does the company have a unique model that gives them advantage among their competitors?
Remember if you have an ace in the hole, there's no need fabricate fiction. Just spotlight what makes them who they are.
